Motorcycle
Who's having this as a hobby: Stig
Driving motorcycle is also a heavily used 'hobby', it is almost become a lifestyle. At present there is only one bike in my possesion, but maybe one day there will be a few more? We'll see...
On my few years of biking in Cyprus, there has been a list of bikes in my possesion: Yamaha Virago 750, Suzuki Intruder 1400, Honda Steed 600, Kawasaki ZZ-R 400 (My eldest sons bike) and now the FJR. They have all been sold of except the FJR.
The bike used now is a Yamaha FJR 1300 N 2002 model, see Yamaha's website for the new upgraded model.
There is not many differences between model 2002 and the latest model, but one difference is definetively different and that is colors.
Today they only offer a dark blue, and not the well known racing color of Yamaha.
Todays most famous Yamaha rider is probably Valentino Rossi, with no comparision what so ever :)
On the right hand side is a photo of the 2002 Yamaha FJR 1300. One of the MAIN differences of the latest models and the 2002 model is the option of ABS brakes. Many 'real' bikers don't like ABS, but it is a really nice feature to have, so this is the only new feature I am missing on my bike.

On the right hand there is a picture of my bike (the background was not the best for the picture, will be changed later).
The visible modifications are Bagster equipment, which in this case is tank 'protection' and new seat covers. In addition to these, there is also a tank bag in the same color. Very nice equipment, I like it a lot!
In addition there is original sidebags, so the bike is really well suited for long trips.
Some will say that equipment like the 'Bagster' addons is not suitable or not nice, but I like both the looks and not at least the practicality with these addons. It is a matter of taste, and after putting it on I will keep it on...
Some panels has been removed to get a more free airflow to the engine. In the climate of Cyprus that is not a drawback, there is no need for 'pre heating' any intake air with year round temperatures.
There is also added a few security devices, it is not that it is so much theft in Cyprus, but if one day it's gone it will be a little late to add it, so it is there to prevent the possibility as much as reasonable possible.
Other modification plans:
- New exhaust system
- Garmin GPS
- Power Commander III
Trips and touring - Present and plans
This will be more updated later. The PLAN is to have a flash application with a map over Cyprus and use data from GPS to 'draw' the routes used inland, since there is quite a few really nice routes and trips available on this island. The earliest this will be done is after my planned Italy trip sometime this summer...
