HOW TO:With a mouse - To expand a folder, single click on the triangle on the left edge in the leftmost pane. Also click the triangle to collapse the folder(s). When expanded, click on the wanted pictures, one by one.
With a keyboard: Make sure the focus is given to the leftmost pane. Expand folder with 'Right arrow' key, collapse with 'Left arrow' key. Manouver up and down with 'Up' and 'Down' arrows. Enjoy...
